In their previous league duel Dynamos beat the soldiers 2-1 in Harare.

But at Rimuka, they have failed to breach the army side’s defence for the second time running after they were held to another scoreless stalemate last year. The result means Dynamos (31 points) remain one point behind log leaders Highlanders while the soldiers have now amassed a total of nineteen points in 17 matches.

For Black Rhinos coach Jostein Mathuthu, it was another joyful day in office having managed a win and a draw in his opening two matches in charge of Chipembere after replacing Arthur Tutani at the helm.

“It is exciting to get a draw especially when you are playing against Dynamos.

“I am happy the boys managed to withstand the pressure.

“I also want to assure everyone that we are here to stay and we will not be relegated,” Mathuthu said.

Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa bemoaned the state of the pitch after the scoreless stalemate though he felt his charges needed to up their game.

“The condition of the pitch contributed immensely hence we failed to create chances.

“I cannot complain about the result, but we should improve to win our future games,” Pasuwa said.

Dynamos dominated proceedings from the outset with Chipembere’s resolute defence standing tall to survive wave after wave of attacks.

Simba Sithole was first to get a meaningful chance to break the deadlock after 22 minutes but he ballooned his effort over the bar.

Five minutes later Tafadzwa Rusike’s shot from the left was tipped over the bar by Samuel Mafukidze in goal for the hosts.

Ten minutes before the breather Bruce Homora was alert enough to clear Rodreck Mutuma’s goal-bound header.

Moments before the breather Dynamos goalie Artwell Mukandi was at his very best when he ably got to the end of an Obey Gada header.

Nine minutes into the second stanza Steven Alimenda was very fortunate when referee Thomas Massa gave him a yellow card for an off-the- ball lunge on Wonder Kapinda.

In the 63rd minute, Brian Muzondiwa’s clever break from the left was thwarted by slow decision making when he delayed pulling the trigger allowing the opposing defence to recover.

Twelve minutes before fulltime Augustine Mbara failed to get to the end of a beautifully taken Blessing Moyo cross with Mafukidze a beaten man.
