They last picked up maximum points against Buffaloes in June and they have played two draws and lost five times in seven matches.

Hillary Bakacheza thrust Triangle into the lead in the 12th minutes before Praise Tonha added the second three minutes after the break to leave Philani Ncube on the brink.

How Mine are on position nine with 23 points from 18 games while Triangle are on position 10 with the same number of points, but are separated by goal difference.

Ncube was disappointed after the home loss.

“The empire is crumbling. As much as we wanted to win, we couldn’t. We were creating chances, but I believe it wasn’t our day. We were really drained when we played against Highlanders and did not have much time to recover.

“Triangle seemed to be at home, but it happens in football. We need to go back to the drawing board and work on our shortcomings. Of late we haven’t been scoring – that is a cause for concern. Whether you are winning or losing there will always be pressure. To make matters worse we are losing and pressure will keep on mounting and mounting,” he said.

Triangle coach Biggie Zuze was happy with picking up three points.

“I always tell my players to play simple football. We created a lot of chances and with a bit of luck we could have banged three or four goals. I am happy with how we are progressing. What is important is that we have regained the spirit we have had in the past five games. I hope things are beginning to shape up.

“We used one striker. Our strength was in the flanks where we had a bit of pace. We wanted to score first,” he added.
