Nkosiphile Luphahla (18) of Ridge Drive pleaded guilty to neglecting a young person when she appeared before Hwange Provincial magistrate Portia Mhlanga.
The court heard that on April 30 2013, Luphahla left her baby in the custody of Sukoluhle Mpala who was her neighbour after indicating that she was going to buy vegetables at the bus terminus.
Luphahla left the baby without food and clothes and went to an unknown destination.
Mpala tried phoning Lupahla, but she was unreachable and she made a report to Hwange police.
Sometime last month Luphahla returned and she was immediately arrested.
Luphahla told the court she had met with a man called Bhekisipho Dube of Bulawayo on Facebook and moved in with him.
