The allegations followed successive poor performances prompting critics to link them to the scandal currently rocking the only female football club from Matabeleland North.

According to sources close to the developments, some of the girls were allegedly seen kissing or caressing each other prompting members of the community to raise the alarm with the veteran coach.

“Some of these girls are seen during practice sessions caressing or kissing each other making one wonder what is really going on.

We have since alerted the coach on this development which we feel has resulted in the team underperforming since the season kicked off,” one resident, who declined to be named, said.

Mwale denied the allegations, but admitted that he had heard about the rumours.

“I also heard about these rumours that six girls are said to be lesbians, but I want to set the record straight by categorically telling you that it is a lie,” he said.

“There is no such thing in this club. The suspensions that are being talked about are all a lie. In fact, we are on a scouting mission to boost the club.”

Mwale said the scouting they had embarked on during the youth soccer games held in Bulawayo and Masvingo earlier this year was going to result in a strong team being selected to represent the country at the women’s soccer tournament to be held in Botswana later this year.
