Sekunjalo, fronted by Dave Ncube, aka Madamara, will operate the Terrace Garden Bar renamed The New Terrace Gardens, The Brass Rail and Men’s Bar.

“Our vision is to give Bulawayo the best look and venue for the outgoing. Everyone must think of Selborne for entertainment whether over the weekend or a simple leisure stint during the week,” Ncube said.

He said the vision was simply to take the three bars to their former glory and re-establish them as the premium, de facto meeting, socialising and thirst-quenching choice for all.

“People should be able to sit, talk and understand each other, but at the same time enjoy an entertainment atmosphere especially in the case of the New Terrace which we want to establish as a family outing venue” Ncube said.

“Music, great customer service and satisfaction, cleanliness and hygiene, order and discipline should be the values that will recreate the Selborne ambience of old”.

The introduction of new management for the three bars will also see the relaunch of a permanent daily press club at the hotel.

A press club is an organisation of journalists and other professional news disseminators who meet and discuss matters of common concern pertaining the execution of their duties as the media.

The Bulawayo Press Club has only been meeting on a summons basis for special issues, but Ncube said the aim was to ensure that the tradition of a club as a daily platform was restored.

“In the past our local press club used to meet at the Selborne Hotel and when we say we are on a mission to restore the old status quo, it would not be complete without such defining activities, thus our drive towards a permanently housed club at the hotel again,” Ncube explained.
