THE Choppies 10km road race that was set for December 7 in Bulawayo has been brought forward to November 16 so as not to clash with the African Union Sports Council Region V Youth Games to be held from December 5 to 15.

SUKOLUHLE MTHETHWA SPORTS REPORTER Bulawayo Athletics Board chairman Manuel Mpofu confirmed the development to Southern Eye Sport yesterday.

“We were supposed to host the Choppies 10km road race on December 7, but we will now have it on November 16.

We are avoiding clashing with the Region V Games that are going to be held in December. We want focus to be on the Region V Games in December,” he said.

Mpofu said they were yet to reveal the prize monies for the competition.

“The sponsors have not informed us on the prize monies. But there are chances are that they are going to increase the purse. If they don’t the prizes will remain the same,” he said.
