Sekunjalo, fronted by Dave Ncube, aka Madamara, is now operating the Terrace Garden Bar renamed The New Terrace Gardens, The Brass Rail and Men’s Bar.

“We have already noticed a shift in the patronage and atmosphere at the bars since we took over and in line with our promises to cater for all entertainment needs, we have lined up classic Bulawayo shows this weekend,” he said.

“Tonight we are hosting the Jade Band which is a collection of seasoned live jazz performers and we will provide this for free to our patrons from 5pm.”

Madamara explained that the next event would be held on Sunday at a session dubbed “Throw Back Sunday” where they would create a shebeen atmosphere. The event would be hosted by Silver who is known in the city as a shebeen proprietor.

“The tradition of Bulawayo is spiced up with these shebeens where people would converge for drinks and socialisation. I want people to remember how they grew up and those who did not experience this to get a feel of a life their forefathers lived,” he added.

Ncube said this weekend would only be a tip of the iceberg as plans were underway to make weekend specials bigger with every session.

“Every last Friday of the month we intend to host big groups and to prove it we will feature the Cool Crooners this month,” he said.

“Selbourne will definitely become the concert venue in the city and I encourage any performer who believes they are worth their salt to approach us and we will give them a platform.”
