The police side came from behind after Old Nic Mine had scored as early as the fourth minute through Prince Moyo.

They equalised 20 minutes into the second half through James Phiri and got the winner in the 89th minute through Stanley Ngara, but the miners protested the last-minute goal and the match was abandoned.

Last weekend, Phiri was on target again when Black Boots beat Trumus 2-0 at Victoria Falls.

Black Boots therefore maintained their stranglehold at the top of the log standings with 45 points from 22 games, but the competition is stiff as second-placed Technosphere routed Quelaton 5-1 in Hwange.

Technosphere are now on 42 points with a game in hand and on the third spot is Tsholotsho FC who dispatched Elephants FC 3-0 at home.

Tsholotsho have 42 points from 21 games.

Plumtree Chiefs are also in contention and registered an away win beating Mpumalanga 2-1 in Hwange. They are on position four with 40 points.

Ntabazinduna Prison are now on 40 points from 21 matches after beating Hwange Juniors 1-0 in another match that was played at the coal mining town.

ZPC Hwange faltered on Saturday after they were held to a 2-2 draw by New West City in Hwange. They picked up a point to land on 36 points and have played 22 games.
