TOP South African musician Dan Tshanda says his fans in Zimbabwe will have to wait a little longer to see him perform as he is still searching for the “right promoter”. LUYANDUHLOBO MAKWATI OWN CORRESPONDENT
Last year Tshanda, who is popular especially in the Matabeleland region where he usually visits annually, cancelled his shows scheduled for Bulawayo and Hwange at the last minute after a fallout with promoters Lussate Marketing.
He told Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday that he was not happy with the promoters who fronted his shows last year and was looking for serious people to promote his shows in Zimbabwe.
Tshanda said he had lost a lot in terms of business because of unprofessional promoters.
He said at times he had to dig dip into his pockets to save his shows after promoters bungled, especially with documents.
“I have been working with a lot of promoters in Zimbabwe, but the problem I am facing is that they are not bargaining faithfully,” he said.
“As a result I usually lose as I am meant to cover their dues because I don’t want to have a bad reputation with service providers.”
Tshanda last year came under fire for alleged unprofessional conduct after he inexplicably cancelled the much-hyped shows at the last minute.

Promoters had alleged that he had been paid in advance.
Tshanda and his groups — Peacock and Dalom Kids — were due to hold shows in Bulawayo and Hwange.
However, the musician who draws huge crowds in Botswana and Namibia, called off last year’s shows without giving reasons.
He advised local promoters to apologise to his legion of fans.
Tshanda’s actions did not go down well with promoters and local musicians that had been roped in to share the stage with him. He was accused of taking locals for granted.
Kingston of Lussate Marketing, who had organised the shows, hinted all had not been well in Tshanda’s camp ahead of the Zimbabwe tour.
