The former champions were downed 1-0 by Chicken Inn on Sunday to add to losses against Caps United (0-4), Harare City (0-1) and ZPC Kariba (1-3). The latest loss saw them move from fourth spot to seventh on the log standings, leaving coach Mark Mathe a worried man.

“It’s not good for a team like Highlanders,” he said. “I know our fans are not happy. I am trying my best as a coach. At the end of the day I am the man in charge. I am the face of the club if I can say that. I understand it’s part of the game (losing).

Highlanders is a big club and it comes with a lot of pressure what is important is that I take admission.

“We have to react; we have to respond. People are not giving us much of a chance because we are going away (Hwange).”

Hwange coach Nation Dube said they had a tough task against Bosso.

“It’s a very difficult game,” he said.

“Highlanders are very dangerous because they would like to end this losing streak. They do not want it to be their fifth defeat in a row. It is a very tricky fixture because one can say they are low in confidence. But they would want to show character and still want to win. They are going to throw everything at us.

“Our target is to win all our games. If we finish in the top four, it will be a bonus for us because we will compete in the Mbada Diamonds Cup.”

Hwange drew one-all with Black Rhinos on Saturday and moved to 39 points, the same as Bosso, but on sixth place due to a superior goal difference.

Bosso players will have to pick themselves up if they are to redeem lost pride while Hwange would want to win at home as the league has reached a crucial stage.
