JOHANNESBURG — Singer and actress Kelly Khumalo said slain Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa planned to divorced his wife Mandisa Mkhize and marry her, the Sunday Times reported.

“I have never been loved by anyone the way Senzo loved me,” Khumalo told the newspaper. “He was willing to do anything for me. . . His heart was with me.”

Meyiwa was shot dead on October 26 in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting Khumalo. Two men allegedly entered the house, demanding cellphones and shot him before fleeing.

The Sunday Times reported that Khumalo’s claims of an impending marriage or Meyiwa’s plan to leave his wife could not be validated as his family, including his wife, were preoccupied with arrangements for his funeral.

Meyiwa was buried at Heroes’ Acre at Chesterville cemetery.

“I do not know what to say, but God will fight on my behalf. Senzo’s family never loved me to begin with,” Khumalo told the Sunday Times.

“But all I know is that Senzo loved me and that he wanted to be part of my life. I will always honour and respect his spirit. What people think of me is not important.”Bafana-Bafana-captain-Senzo-Meyiwa
