The tartan track is expected to arrive from South Africa sometime this month.

The lawn is being planted.

The regional organising committee toured some of the venues on October 22 where the body highlighted their concerns, especially White City Stadium which is falling behind in terms of refurbishment.

“The tartan track for both the main events and the warm-up track are still to be laid, the lawn yet to be planted and the dressing rooms still need adjustments, among other things,” Mvuzo Mbebe, Region V secretary-general said during the tour.

He highlighted his concern, but said they were confident that the contractor would have completed the job and moved out of the site by November 15 with the latest being November 20.

At Luveve Stadium, a new fence inside the stadium has been erected, the turf and drainage system are being worked on while the changing rooms have been painted.

A total of 11 countries are expected to take part in the games which will be held on December 5-14 in Bulawayo.

Meanwhile, the roadshow aimed at raising awareness on the games will be held in the city tomorrow.

Areas that will be covered include Mzilikazi, Lobengula West, Njube, Mpopoma, Pelandaba, Mabuthweni, Iminyela and Magwegwe West.

Hosts Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, the Seychelles, Swaziland and Zambia are the countries expected to take part.

They will compete in basketball, judo, football, netball, swimming, athletics, boxing and tennis.
