The Intwasa Fashion Show is a celebration of Bulawayo’s fashion industry through providing a platform where designers showcase their collections.

This year’s show will feature 10 local designers who will showcase 10 looks each from their Autumn/Winter 2015 collections.

Event producer Gilmore Moyo aka Gilmore Tee said the show came after many years of Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo having limited participation of the fashion sector.

“Ten years of the festivals existence also marks the role the fashion industry has played in the growth of our communities’ recognition across the globe,” he added. “Bulawayo has birthed many fashion designers who have brought recognition to our country and to us as a people of the global village.”

The 10 designers to participate in the event are the Bulawayo Board of Designers, upcoming designer Lorraine Fusire, Sam Lui by Humphrey Sarimu — who was part of the Zimbabwe Fashion Week young talents — Crox Designs winner of Clothing Indaba, Sanah Designs, Umlongo by Wani Baker, Ganu Creations who recently showcased at the Sadc Fashion Week, Shadow by Sidumiso who showcased at the Durban Fashion Fair, Ara Kani who won best male designer at the recently-launched Matabeleland Fashion Week and Harare-based guest designer Tapfumaneyi Munenge.

Moyo said the Intwasa Fashion Show would also celebrate the city’s 120 years through incorporating public personalities, professional models, scouted new models and full-figured models.

“Being in the Southern African region, we ought to appreciate the curvy women we have and celebrate them,” he said.

“The show will feature an interesting group of 15 models that will be on the ramp for the 10 collections.

“Designers’ best friends are big clothing lines like Edgars, Truworths and Topics so this year, for the first time, Edgars has come in and offered attachment to two top designers in terms of finishing and commercial potential at the show.”

Hunnar Management Agency will work in collaboration with Intwasa Arts Festival  koBulawayo while Edgars is providing support.
