JOHANNESBURG – A blog post believed to be written by President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Takudzwa Wesley Goronga reveals that the 20-year-old’s death could have been an act of suicide.

Goronga was found dead in a closet at Monash University, an incident that Mugabe has described as a mystery.

The information technology student was laid to rest in Zimbabwe at the weekend in a service attended by Cabinet ministers and security chiefs.

In what appears to be an online suicide note, Goronga apologises to his loved ones for taking his own life.

The post entitled “Goodbye, I quit, I’m killing myself” was published on November 5, around the same time he was reported to have gone missing.

In the note, the student reveals deep feelings of melancholy saying he is “tired of this life” and is “ready to move over to the other side”.

Eyewitness News was able to verify the account by positively matching him to a profile that appears on Monash University’s Facebook page.

Police say while they have been unaware of the note, it will be looked at as part of their on-going investigation.
