3 months for bashing wife, ‘Ben 10’

A KENSINGTON man in Bulawayo was on Monday slapped with a three-month jail term after being convicted of beating his wife to a pulp and attacking her workmate, who he referred to as his wife’s “Ben 10”. A “Ben 10” is a man who dates or married a woman who is older than him.

A KENSINGTON man in Bulawayo was on Monday slapped with a three-month jail term after being convicted of beating his wife to a pulp and attacking her workmate, who he referred to as his wife’s “Ben 10”. A “Ben 10” is a man who dates or married a woman who is older than him.

PATIENCE RATAMBWA OWN CORRESPONDENT

Roberto Mkandla (28) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing two counts of assault and was convicted on his own plea of guilty.

“I apologise your worship, I acted out of anger. Imagine finding your wife with a man way younger that her in your marital home,” said Mkandla in mitigatiion.

“Even you would get angry seeing that you’ve been overtaken by a Ben 10.”

Charges against Mkandla are that on November 20 at around 10pm, he saw his wife, the first complainant Nobukhosi Moyo (28), coming out of their home with her workmate Kiffy Tshabalala (23).

The accused allegedly became furious and started beating his wife until she passed out.

Tshabalala then tried to rescue Moyo from the enraged Mkandla and the accused turned his fury on him and beat him.
