As if the poor attendance was not enough, the bulk of the invited artistes and groups did not bother to show up save for Destiny Praise and Voice of Praise who performed in a near empty hall.

Vocal Ex arrived at the venue late and the few people that were still at the concert left in frustration.

However, the organisers of the event blamed the poor attendance on the location of the venue saying it was remote.

“I am actually not surprised with the attendance; the venue was probably not suitable for everyone,” said Donny Ncube, who was part of the organisers.

“We received too many phone calls of people who wanted to attend the concert asking for directions and it might have put them off.”

Some of the people who attended the event said they were not happy with the way it was organised.

Lukhanyiso Ngwenya said he had wasted money attending the event.

Themba Ndlovu had no kind words for the organisers.

“This is the kind of image that is not befiting of the church,” he said. “The bible teaches us to be humble as doves and smart like snakes.

“Wisdom is of paramount importance when planning events. Failing to organise a gospel concert is shameful.”
