Police in Beitbridge on Thursday morning arrested MDC-T official Job Sikhala on charges that are yet to be established.

Although police were not immediately available for comment, MDC-T spokesperson, Obert Gutu confirmed the incident on his Facebook page.

“Officers from CID Law & Order department say that they will escort Job Sikhala from Beitbridge to Harare today,” he said.

“Legal representation for Sikhala has been arranged although we are not yet clear what exact charges the Police intend to prefer against him.”

State media have in recent weeks claimed Sikhala, working with a Zanu PF faction, was involved in a plot to unseat President Robert Mugabe.

Sikhala was also said to be planning a frivolous Constitutional Court appeal.
