“Athletes have been staying at the Bulawayo Polytechnic during their camp. Tomorrow (today) we will have a send-off dinner at Bulawayo Polytechnic College as the team will be moving to the games village Hillside Teachers’ College on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Andrew Langa will be the guest of honour at the dinner,” he said.

Vinyu said all was well in camp as they have also organised psychological sessions for the athletes.

“We have 220 athletes in camp. We expect all the Team Zimbabwe athletes who have not yet joined camp to be in by December 3 (Wednesday).

So far so good everything is going well. There are no injuries. The athletes are going through psychological sessions.

The sessions are also there for the coaches although this has to be on request,” he said.

The athletes were yesterday going through the accreditation process at Bulawayo Polytechnic College which is the command centre after which they would rest while all the participating countries are expected to be done with accreditation by Thursday.

Vinyu said Food Express and Astro-Mobile have chipped in to assist the team while saying they appreciate the support they have been receiving from the government.

Zimbabwe will compete against Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Seychelles, Swaziland and Zambia in athletics, basketball, football, boxing, judo, tennis, netball and swimming sporting disciplines.

ZITF, Large City Hall, Luveve, White City and Barbourfields Stadiums, Bulawayo Athletics Club and Bulawayo Swimming Pool are the games venues.
