Stuart Baxter told South African media that Hoffenheim had come back knocking on their door regarding the unsettled Zimbabwean striker.

Baxter’s assertions, however, contradict Musona agent Mike Makaab’s earlier remarks that the player would remain in Europe and not return to Kaizer Chiefs in January.

Chiefs’ intentions to bring Musona back at the beginning of the season fell through due to contractual disagreements.

“They have come back again to us and they are asking if we are still interested. Well, the window is opening and we will reassess it and if the deal is good for Kaizer Chiefs then we will do it,” Baxter said.

Musona has been frozen out at Hoffenheim, while Chiefs have left one foreign spot open with the aim of using it to bring in the 24-year-old in January if the deal works out.

Musona has recovered from an ankle injury that he picked up while on loan at Chiefs last season and though he prefers to continue in Europe, it is no doubt that Amakhosi will provide a good platform to get his career back in motion again.

Chiefs are aware of the need to strengthen their squad in attack as goals have not been coming from their frontmen.

Makaab on Friday, however, said Europe remains the first choice for Musona and that they are talking to clubs in both Belgium and Holland.

“Musona is staying in Europe,” he told KickOff.com. “We want to keep him playing at a high level in Europe. We are speaking to clubs in Holland and Belgium at the moment.”

Musona scored 44 goals in 74 matches for the Amakhosi, spread across two spells.

Meanwhile, Absa Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns have talked light of Cuthbert Malajila’s injury concern saying the knock he received at the weekend was not serious as initially feared and should be ready to play against Orlando Pirates tomorrow night.

The Warriors striker scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Free State Stars the weekend, but limped off due to a hamstring injury and was replaced by Anthony Laffor midway through the first half. Sundowns, however, said the marksman should be available for the upcoming trip to Orlando Stadium.

“The doctors are saying it’s a minor injury and it’s not serious at all,” Downs media officer Thulani Thuswa said.

“He should be ready to take the field against Pirates, but a thorough assessment will be made later this afternoon. But by the look of it, it shouldn’t be a problem.”

The Brazilians are second on the table, 13 points behind Kaizer Chiefs, who have played an extra game.

Pitso Mosimane’s men were beaten 3-0 by the Buccaneers in the reverse fixture in August.
