LUYANDUHLOBO MAKWATI OWN CORRESPONDENT The city will experience a fusion of music genrés at different entertainment joints with the premier event being the annual South Africa-based Kalawa Jazmee Homecoming show.

The Kalawa Jazmee Homecoming show will be staged at Queens Sports Club on Saturday night and is set to attract thousands of music lovers as it has proved popular over the years.

The homecoming this year will feature veteran kwaito artistes Mdu Masilela and Mandoza of Nkalakatha fame and Zola, who is renowned for his hit song Mdlwembe. Zola is also known for his gangster role as Papa Action in the thrilling South African drama Yizo Yizo.

Other artistes set to perform are Zimbabwean-born Jah Seed of Bongo Muffin and Brickz of the Sweetie My baby fame. This line-up of kwaito artistes is proof that kwaito lovers would be taken down memory lane with some old school hits being belted by the genré’s godfather Masilela. Kwaito group Alaska will also be part of the homecoming show.

Locals set to entertain the crowd are DJ S’bago. Veteran former Radio 2 DJ Ezra “Tshisa” Sibanda will MC the show. Sibanda was set to be assisted by comedian Babongile Sikhonjwa, but he is currently battling for his life in the intensive care unit at Mpilo Central Hospital after being involved in a horror car crash in the early hours of Monday morning.

Sikhonjwa was still on life support and under strict monitoring yesterday morning.

Local artistes set to date the City of Kings include dendera ace Sulumani Chimbetu, sungura prince Peter Moyo and raunchy dancer Bev. The three will perform at different venues on Boxing Day.

Chimbetu is set to heat up the city’s popular Club Forty-40 joint while Moyo will share the stage with Bev at Shumba Bar on the same night in an event dubbed “Last Show of The Year”.

Tomorrow, local gospel choir, ZimPraise, is set to illuminate the resort town of Victoria Falls at the Elephant Hills Hotel.

Tendai Zhou, ZimPraise’s public relations officer, told Southern Eye Lifestyle that the concert would also feature other gospel artistes from Victoria Falls, Bulawayo and Harare.

Selbourne Hotel, which is fast becoming the home of jazz in the city, will also host several shows with a host of various solo and band performances.
