Vincent, who seems to be carrying on from where he left off last year, put on a masterful display as he led from start to finish in runaway victory.

Playing off a handicap of -2, Vincent carded rounds of 64, 66, 69 and 68 for a 21 under par 275 total. He finished 16 shots ahead of second-placed Justin Kersten on five-under par 287, having shot rounds of 67, 74, 74 and 68 while Renco Mine-based golfer Visitor Mapwanya was a shot back in third place on four under par 284 after posting rounds of 71, 74, 73 and 66.

Doctor Maphosa posted rounds of 74, 72, 72 and 75 to finish a fourth on 293, two shots clear of fifth-placed duo of Jack Allard and Scott’s young brother Kieran.

Allard had rounds of 73, 73, 74 and 75 while Kieran, the Zimbabwe Matchplay Champion, recovered from opening rounds of 81 and 74 with 71 and 69 in the last two rounds on Sunday. Young David Amm came in seventh position on 292 after rounds of 77, 71, 77 and 71.

Stuart Krog (72, 75, 78 and 73) and Thembelani Vundla (68, 77, 73 and 80) were tied for eighth positions on a total of 298.

A strong field of 80 of the country’s leading amateur golfers took part in the two-day, 72-hole tournament which is the traditional season opening event on the ZGA calender.

Participating players were vying for ZGA Order of Merit points which will be used to determine the team to represent the country at the Zone VI Golf Championships in April.
