At a recently held meeting with chrome miners in Shurugwi, ZMF technical director Phil Mubata said the equipment to be procured through the $ 100 million allocated for small -scale miners would not be politicised.

“We will not politicise this exercise. Whoever is involved in mining has to benefit irrespective of which political party they belong to” Mubata said.

He said that they would not be manipulated by people with political interests to give special preferences to “their people”.

“Let the politicians do their politics. When we are meeting as miners, we are meeting as businesspeople,” he emphasised.

Mubata revealed that ZMF was in the process of compiling a database of miners that could help promote foreign direct investment.

He said if miners’ profiles could be accessed online, that could enhance their trading and exports. He encouraged miners to embrace information technology and to pursue courses in mining and business to take their businesses to higher levels.

Mubata urged miners to familiarise themselves with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority laws to protect themselves from being duped.

ZMF spokesperson, Dosman Mangisi, said equipment had now been identified and they were now working on the exact figures of miners in the province to plan how distribution could be affected.
