UPCOMING Bulawayo hip-hop crew KKP is set to release a debut nine-track extended play (EP) on Sound Cloud tomorrow.

MILTON SITHOLE OWN CORRESPONDENT The group’s spokesperson and one of the founding members, Nigel Krazzykid, said the EP would feature their hit song Swikiri, which is a partying song.

“Swikiri means sugar and we all came up with the concept and wrote the song,” said Krazzykid.

“The song is about living the sweet life, having no care and having it all as a young person.”

KKP Crew is made up of three young males Nigel (Krazzykid, Keith (Kissmoney), Pride (PMDee).

“KKP is a crew of friends and we are a hip-hop outfit whose mission is simply to inspire young people,” Krazzykid said.

KKP is part of Voltface Gang (VFG) run by budding hip-hop superstar Cal-Vin.

“We are part of VFG under Cal-Vin and we released an EP called Applying Pressure last year as VFG,” he said.

“We then decided to release singles and that is how KKP came to be. We want to put Bulawayo on the African map, so that we could be viewed as a city that possesses the best talent. A few rappers from Bulawayo are known and people doubt the city’s ability to produce good music.”

He added: “We want to change all that and make a name for ourselves. We want to prove to others that you can achieve your dreams if you visualise the moment and work hard. We are aiming at becoming a brand.”

The energetic trio has collaborated with the Kwasakwasa hit-maker Mzoe7 and is set to do a track with Cal-Vin titled Doing Me.

“We have been blessed to have the exposure that we have got so far,” Krazzykid said.

“We are looking forward to having our tracks remixed by house music DJs such as Djembe Monks, just to give the house listeners the flavour of our rhymes and catchy choruses.

“Hip-hop lovers should expect something different from the norm, seeing our beats are different and the style of rapping is totally unique.”
