SUPPORT Unit Volleyball Club have another chance to show their exploits when they represent the country in the 2015 men’s African Club Championships to be held in Tunisia next month.

The police side was impressive in the Region 5 Volleyball Club Championships that were held in December in Mozambique losing in the final to Mozambican side Autoridade de Tributaria.

According to media reports, the Club Championships to be held in the Northern African country is considered to be one of the most attractive volleyball tournaments in Africa as more than 16 teams have been participating in the last few years.

Winners of the competition will represent Africa in the 2015 Men’s World Club Championships which will be held in Brazil May 5 to 10 2015. Zimbabwe Volleyball Association secretary-general Ringisai Mapondera yesterday told Southern Eye Sport that Support Unit were expected to take part in the competition.

“Support Unit did very well in the Region 5 Club Championships in Mozambique last year despite losing in the final,” he said.

“We have selected Support Unit to represent the country in the African Club competition in March. They have expressed their willingness to participate.

“It will be a good competition because they usually take part in regional and SARPCO Games. This will give the club a chance to compete with clubs from all the Africa zones.”

Itsanang Abu-Basutu former Railstars coach is in charge of the police side from Harare. Espérance of Tunisia were the last champions in the Sousse in 2014 which saw 18 clubs taking part.

They also represented Africa in the World Championships.
