Mayor Martin Moyo said the development of Bulawayo did not only depend on the hard work of its citizens, but on God because he was the giver of all things.

“By coming together, we publicly declare our total dependence on the Lord for life, wisdom, growth and social transformation,” he said.

“It is important that we constantly pray for our city as we are aware of the need for divine intervention in the development of Bulawayo and the social and economic wellbeing of our community.

“We use such meetings to pray for rains, but most importantly we thank God for the rains that we have received so far. “Our dams are 62% full and we thank God for his grace.”

About 230 people attended the thanksgiving prayer, among them members of the Roman Catholic, Methodist and VaPostori churches, who all joined in a mass prayer for Bulawayo.
