The gig will be staged at Kwekwe’s Calvary Nite Club.

Scores of people took to social networking sight Facebook to criticise show organisers saying Pump and Tanjani were underage children who should not be admitted in a night club let alone perform alongside an erotic pole dancer.

Pump and Tanjani are both believed to be 14 years each.

However, Calvary Nite Club manager Tom “Teenash” Masara defended the show saying the young dancehall artistes would not perform at the same time as Sibanda, but simply would curtain raise.

“Ras Pompy and Spiderman will perform from 6pm to 8pm and immediately leave the club for home while Sibanda will perform from 10pm till morning,” Masara said.

He further added that he is allowed to bring the youngsters in the club.

Ras Pompy and Spiderman’s manager only identified as Holieman, could not be reached for comment.

Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) director Polisile Ncube weighed into the debate saying the show was taking place at places such as Pakare Paye in Norton, 7 Arts, Amakhosi Cultural Centre or a hotel where families could attend, there would have been no problem, but a night club was tricky.

“It depends on the regulation attached to the venue. There are ‘open concerts’ in some night clubs where there is no restriction at certain times for family entertainment open for everyone regardless of age. For example, there can be a restriction that says no Under-18s after 8pm,” Ncube said.

Local upcoming artistes such as Tiflan, Tiny Trigger, Gun Fire, West Side and Chief are billed to perform at the Valentine’s gig that would be co-hosted by DJ Tom and Vybz.

In June 2014, Sibanda was charged for violating terms of her dancing licence issued under the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act.

This followed multiple complaints on her conduct during the Harare International Carnival’s Samba Night where she invited patrons on stage and simulated sexual acts on them at the Airport Lounge.

Ras Pompy is known for his two hit singles Style and Pattern that are making waves on radio. Rumours swirled last year that he was quitting school to pursue a fulltime music career, but he denied the allegations.

Spiderman is the son to dancehall sensation George Tanjani, aka Jiggaz.

Spiderman has shared the stage with international dancehall star Capleton and has released singles, which include tracks Nguva Yechikoro, I took A Break, Spiderman Christmas and Zvanga Zvakaoma.
