Chipo Nine pleaded guilty to physically abusing her husband Philip Nine when she appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Sharon Rosemani.

“He had spoken some hurtful words which upset me. He did not want me to go to the gala with his sister,” she said.

The 21st February Movement gala was a must-go for most Victoria Falls residents as the resort town is starved of affordable entertainment.

“Two months ago, my husband told me that he no longer loved me so things have been tense at home,” she added.

It was the State’s case that on February 28, at around 9pm, Chipo had a misunderstanding with Philip after he blocked her from attending the gala.

She then slapped him on the face and although he did not sustain any visible injuries or go to hospital for treatment, he reported her to the police.
