Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association (Zisca) official Mike Mungove yesterday told Southern Eye that Petros’ name was part of than 20 coaches that have confirmed their participation.

“As of yesterday (Saturday) 20 guys had confirmed, but the number of participants will be much higher than that as I am only talking about coaches that registered with the Harare office and we have someone else co-ordinating in the Central Region.

“I can tell you offhand though that some of the familiar names that have confirmed include Luke Petros, Murape Murape (pictured) and Sikhumbuzo Banda,” Mungove said.

Former Warriors, Kaizer Chiefs and Lancashire Steel striker Petros last season took Zimbabwe Prison Services outfit Hwahwa to the top flight after winning the Central Region Division One championship.

He has, however, found himself having to work under former Sporting Lions, Flame Lily, Kiglon, Dynamos and FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa, who has come in as technical advisor.

Murape recently hung up his boots after a lengthy playing career at Dynamos and there had been talk of him becoming a development coach at DeMbare. Banda is a former Zimbabwe Saints, Sporting Lions, Njube Sundowns and Chicken Inn defender who is an assistant coach with the GameCocks.

The course is open to Level One and Two licence holders and will run from today up to 27 March.

Some coaches eligible for the course will miss out though after getting notification too late.

Former Highlanders and Warriors midfield magician Johannes Ngodzo, a Zifa Level Four licence holder, is one of them.

“I only got the message yesterday (Saturday) night that there is a Caf C course in Kwekwe and I will have to enrol some other time as I was given too short a notice,” Ngodzo said.

He currently coaches youthful Southern Region Soccer League outfit Bantu Rovers who were relegated from the Premier Soccer League last season.

Zisca national secretary Oscar Mazhambe acknowledged that some coaches had been informed very late about the course and promised to rectify this in future.
