HOW MINE were held to a goalless draw by Chapungu in drab a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

There were a few attempts at goal from both sides with the best efforts of the day coming from Charles Sibanda in the 32nd minute and Devon Chafa in the 65th minute for How Mine, but in both instances the ball was punched out for a corner.

Both coaches Luke Masomere for How Mine and John Nyikadzino (Chapungu) said they were happy with the result.

“Obviously when we plan we plan to win. I am happy with the draw even though we could have wrapped up the match early,” Masomere said.

“Our finishing was not accurate and we have to work on it so that we improve when we play against Dongo Sawmills in our next match.”

Masomere made changes to the team that played in the ZNA Charities Shield with veteran midfielder Menard Mupera in a central defensive role in place of Gilbert Banda and Nyasha Mukumbi who are injured.

“There is no team that is easy when sides come and play against us they are coming for the kill and they are playing against names and it is going to be very hard for us,” Masomere said.

Nyikadzino said: “I am happy with the point though I am not happy with the fact that we were not effective in attacking. We were found wanting especially with the last move where we had three of our players versus two defenders, but we failed to utilise that.”
