A SILOBELA woman who hid 500g of mbanje in a bucket was on Friday slapped with an effective 10-month jail term after being convicted for contravening the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Sihle Dube (30), of Silobela under Chief Malisa hid the mbanje in a bucket, which was part of her luggage.
Police officers got a tip-off that Dube was carrying the drug and proceeded to Kudzanayi bus terminus, where they discovered the mbanje on her.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga sentenced Dube to 15 months in jail before suspending five months for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The court heard that on March 2 this year at around 3pm, Dube was at Kudzanayi, boarding a bus heading to Silobela.
Police got a tip-off that she was carrying mbanje in her luggage.
The law enforcement agents conducted a search and found 500g of mbanje in a bucket which was part of her luggage.
