President of Lakers Basketball Foundation, Sikhumbuzo Ndlovu, said he was optimistic that they would do well in Manicaland.
“We are preparing thoroughly to face other teams. I’m optimistic that the Lakers juniors and seniors will do well. We will do our best and we are leaving for Mutare on Thursday,” he said.
Nust sports director Tapiwa Charumbira said the team was prepared.
“We are ready to go, but now the only challenge we are facing is that the paperwork came in late as you know with universities we need to process documents first, otherwise the team is raring to go and are prepared as this competition will be a warm-up for the Zusa games that are to be played a week after,” he said.
Bulawayo’s Oilers will not be sending a team due to financial constraints.
The games will be played at Raylton Sports Club, Mutare Sports Club and Mutare Boys High School.
