Tariro Matongo of Chikumbiro Primary School was being jointly charged with the chairperson of the school’s development committee Jerasi Farai Dube.

According to prosecutors, the two connived to withdraw money meant for school bills, which they converted to their personal use.

Prosecutors said on January 28 2013, Matongo and Dube went to FBC Bank and withdrew $1 295 from the school’s account with the intention of settling water bills.

But instead of paying the bills at the Gweru City Council, the two converted the money to their personal use.

An audit conducted by the Primary and Secondary Education ministry reportedly revealed the theft.

Matongo and Dube were quizzed on the missing money, but reportedly failed to account for how it was used, leading to their arrest.
