Nyasha Muzenda (60) of Nkulumane says she hit her 67-year-old husband Roseville Muzenda in anger.
Last Friday, she appeared before Western commonage magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo who spared her jail on condition she does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
Muzenda told the court that she was angry because her husband called her miripiri (chillies) after she told him to return the rotten tomatoes to people who sold them to him.
“How can he call me miripiri when I asked him to take the tomatoes back and bring fresh ones?” she said.
“I committed the offence because I was angry Your Worship.”
Prosecutor Nomzamo Ndlovu had told the court that on the day in question, Roseville came home from work with tomatoes and cabbage.
