Acute myeloid leukemia is a blood cell cancer that is potentially curable, but is fatal if left unattended.

Caleb Wilson, who stays in Thorngroove, said he needed about $ 50 000 for a bone-marrow transplant as the surgery is not currently done in Zimbabwe.

His brother Bothwell said Caleb was currently undergoing chemotherapy at Mpilo Central Hospital and needed about four pints of blood per session which cost about $600.

“Our family is requesting for financial assistance from well-wishers. Our parents are unemployed and our father lost his sight because he also has some health problems,” he said.

“Because of the nature of the disease and the rate at which it is progressing, doctors have advised that Caleb’s treatment has to begin within two months.”

Well-wishers can call Bothwell Wilson on 0779 372 506 or Florence Sibanda 0772 389 881.
