This followed reports that Mantiziba had recommended Hardmonds Engineering for the job to Secretary for Health and Child Care Gerald Gwinji.

But Mantiziba yesterday said he played no part in the deal as the tendering process was done before he joined Mpilo on September 1 2012.

“The tender price of $110 472,47 was actually agreed upon by the Health and Child Care ministry and Hardmonds Engineering in 2010.

To the ordinary people not conversant with the tendering systems they could have had literal interpretations,” Mantiziba said.

He added: “All the above issues took place before I joined Mpilo Hospital on the 1st September 2012.

I only got involved in the project (Targeted Approach Progam) in early 2013 and I am happy to advise that my intervention ensured the project was completed and commissioned by the Public Works Department.”
