The bus, which was coming from South Africa with 35 passengers on board, reportedly veered off the road and landed on its roof after its windscreen was ripped off by overlapping pipes on the truck.

Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said the truck driver, who was heading in the opposite direction, did not stop at the accident scene.

Nyathi said four injured passengers were treated at Shurugwi District Hospital and discharged.

Six survivors are still admitted at the same hospital.Nyathi said three critically injured passengers were referred to Gweru General Hospital. “Police are urging all drivers to exercise caution when travelling on the highway especially during the night,” he said.
