The award-winning poet performed before the address by the guest of honour Home Affairs minister Kembo Mohadi. The police band spiced up the atmosphere during the conference at Elephant Hills resort.

The 23rd edition of Esarbica 2015 conference brings together executives from different parts of Africa. It kicked off yesterday under the theme “Archive uses, Abuses and Underutilisation”. The conference seeks to highlight the role of records and archives in a modern day society.

Dube welcomed guests by reciting some of his poems including The mighty Victoria Falls and other poem based on the theme of the conference. Speaking to the Southern Eye Lifestyle, Dube said he was taking the opportunity to market himself and it was God’s grace to be entertaining Africans gathered on Zimbabwean soil.

“I feel appreciated by all African countries and it is an honour to be invited to an African event out of so many good poets across Zimbabwe. I got an opportunity to showcase my talent to the outside world and show what we as Zimbabweans, are capable of,” he said.

Dube was recently invited to perform and share the stage with one of the seasoned poets in Kasane, Botswana, and recently released a 13-track album featuring Jeys Marabini (Majahawodwa Ndlovu) and was sponsored by Robert Tony Boyd from United States who saw him performing in Botswana last year.

Dube was born in Dandanda, Mthenjwa village in Lupane. He started poetry recitation at the local school, Siyagomoza Secondary.
