Speaking to the Southern Eye Lifestyle, Siamuloboka, who is based in South Africa, said he was thrilled and humbled to be nominated five times – which came as a surprise.

IMG-20150708-WA0006“I am thrilled and humbled, especially that we now have our own awards. Nothing is as humbling as being appreciated by people at home, by the same people that groomed and made you what you are. I am sure every model outside Zimbabwe will concur and share the same sentiments.

It’s a great initiative that will encourage even young models and artists to work hard. It doesn’t matter how insignificant one thinks their work is.

The truth is someone is watching. This is why I always say be careful how you live your life, you may be the only role model some people look up to.”

He added: “To see people like Brita Masalethulini and Lorraine Maphala being honoured in the right way they deserve is humbling and gives hope. I commend Mercy and her team and the department of arts. Zimbabwe is indeed a beauty.”

Siamuloboka started modelling after being discovered in 2007 by Fingers School of Modelling director Sarah Mpofu. He graduated from the modelling school in 2008 and had a number of local projects before moving to South Africa in 2011.

Siamuloboka has been nominated for best commercial model, best fitness model, best promotional model, most talented model and outstanding charity project.

Zimbabwe Model Awards 2015 is supported by the Sport, Arts and Culture ministry with corporate support. Mercy Mushaninga and Rose Moyo started the whole concept of the awards.
