THREE-YEAR-OLD identical Kezi twins, Khulani and Khulisani, born hard of hearing and speaking are seeking assistance so that they can be examined by specialists at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).

The two boys have developed slowly. They would need to pay initial hospital bills of $300 owed to UBH where they were born through a Caesarean operation.

A faith healer tried to assist the two through a surgical procedure in the tongue without success.

Parents of the twins, Costen Kisi and Antonio Ncube, are requesting assistance to take them to a specialist for a thorough examination. “We need $300 to pay UBH first. When the children were born, we did not settle the bill,” Kisi said.

“We were both out of employment and still are. When they play they make a lot of noise and we just need someone who could check their hearing and ascertain ability for speech.

“When I make noises to tease and play with them, they seem to sense some sound.”

Kisi said their children needed a professional medical examination after the faith healer failed to help them.

“I paid $5 to a faith healer who cut a muscle in their tongues, but they were not able to speak,” he said.

“We need someone who can help examine our children thoroughly so that we could know what their exact condition is.

“As it is, we have not secured their birth records since we have not paid the hospital bill and when they were born, we did not take them for check-ups as we had not settled the bill.

“When they are hungry they point to their mouths and we can tell that they are hungry.

“So if we are made to know their position, it would help us to try sign language. Maybe they could be sent to institutions that cater for people with their condition.”

Well-wishers can visit them at house number 386 Garikai, Maphisa in Kezi district, or contact the parents on mobile numbers 0717 265 537 or 0737 499 118.
