Hwange regained lost pride and dismissed visiting Whawha 3-0 in a Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery Stadium yesterday. The prison wardens sank deep into the relegation zone, second from bottom after Dongo Sawmills and Flame Lily played a goalless draw at Vengere Stadium yesterday as well.

Chipangano, who were still trying to get over that 2-0 defeat at the hands of FC Platinum over the weekend, made their intentions known as early as the first minute when Young Warriors utility player Pritchard Mpelele directed home a Rodwell Chinyengetere cross.

The coal miners were back again in the 25th minute, this time around it was a Kwekwe affair with Munyaradzi Mungadze heading home a Farai Vimisayi corner kick.

The final nail on Lloyd Mutasa side’s coffin came in the 62nd minute when Newman Sianchali directed home an Innocent Muchaneka’s cross to put the game beyond the prison wardens’ reach.

Losing coach Mutasa blamed his defence for poor concentration.

“We lacked concentration at the back and only started playing our normal game in the second but it was already too late,” Mutasa said.

Hwange goalkeepers’ coach Chenjerai Dube said posting a 3-0 win at home was something that they are expected of by the fans. “We had to regroup after that loss to FC Platinum. The boys played well and we deserved to win,” Dube said.
