CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas believes his side is being put under pressure from other teams in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) to maintain their pole position and they will have to fight hard to hold on to the top spot.

BY THANDIWE MOYO The GameCocks face Hwange at Luveve Stadium this afternoon with the aim of collecting maximum points and maintaining their lead on the PSL log.

Chicken Inn lead the log standings with 40 points with second-placed Triangle on 35 points, while on third position are Dynamos with the same number of points and FC Platinum who are a point less completing the top four.

They play Hwange who are placed 10th on the log with 22 points and have struggled most of the season, but coach Nation Dube is still optimistic that they will do well in today’s match. joey-antipas

“It is another difficult match, but we take each assignment seriously. Every game at the moment is tough for us because all teams are putting pressure on us. Everyone wants to knock us off the top,” Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said.

He said they have to keep working hard if they want to maintain their position.

“This will be anyone’s game, but the team that has the hunger for it will win the match at the end of day. We just need to keep working hard if we are going to maintain our position on the log,” he said.

Clemence Matawu and Tafadzwa Kutinyu are doubtful for the match as they were injured in previous encounters. This could be good news for Dube’s Hwange as the two have proved a problem for most defenders.

Dube said they wanted to maintain winning games and collect points in all their matches.

“They won their last match and we won ours, so confidence is high in both teams. We beat them in out last league encounter and we hope that we will maintain this and continue winning matches both home and away,” he said.
