The tour, which is being arranged by the Trade Union for Music and Arts Industry (Tumai), will see selected artistes having the opportunity to perform at one of South Africa’s leading cultural festivals that has been celebrated for the past two centuries.

Tumai secretary-general George Emmanuel said the festival was meant to be a reflection of Zulu cultural practices.

“This year selected artistes will have the opportunity to showcase their work at a two-centuries-old festival. This function is celebrated annually in reflection of the Zulu tribe’s culture and value systems,” he said.

“As a country, we have been invited to participate. Artistes from across the African continent will also be performing at the festival.”

He said among the artistes from Zimbabwe would be the resurgent Dino Mudondo.

‘These are some of the benefits of collective efforts in articulating issues of concern to artistes. Among the crew we will be travelling with Dino Mudondo. We are happy for the recognition as a union and nation since it reveals the manner in which our music is appreciated,” he said. Dino-Mudondo

Mudondo described the turn of events as a lifetime opportunity that was going to boost his return to the mainstream music arena after a lengthy spell of absence.

“I’m happy to have this opportunity which comes at a time when I am launching my comeback to the music fraternity,” he said.

“The opportunity will allow us to meet with other international artistes and this will lift the pedigree of Zimbabwean music.”
