Moto Sounds crowned Mat South winners

Tshitshi Super Sounds and Vumbachikwe Sounds from Plumtree came second and third respectively.

The winners won tickets to represent the province in the Chibuku Road to Fame national finals set for Harare next month.

The entertainment-starved mining community thronged the venue to watch different groups belting out their stuff.

National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) programmes manager for Matabeleland South province, Percy Vela, was elated by the commitment shown by groups in the province, adding the event has grown in stature over the years.

“Matabeleland South as a province is big. I am happy to say that the commitment shown by these groups to come here and take part in the competition after having travelled for long distances delights us as stakeholders in the arts sector,” he said.

“This year all the districts in the province were represented, which is somehow good for the growth of the art in country.”

Vela thanked their sponsors Delta beverages for their support and making the event a success.

“As people of Matabeleland South lets thank Delta beverages and the Chibuku staff for making our day here today in Gwanda. Their unwavering support makes us always happy as artistes and the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Matabeleland North province will hold their competition on Saturday in Hwange Beer Garden in No 1.

NACZ Provincial programmes officer Philani Ncube said preparations for the event were underway and they are ready for the day.

“We are working on finals touches come Saturday we will be giving the community entertainment of high quality in the Road to Fame competition,” he said.
