Prosecutor Tawanda Sigauke told the court that on July 6 this year, the old woman and her grandson aged eight forgot to lock their bedroom door when they retired to bed at night.

In the middle of the night, Ndlovu stormed into her bedroom and sneaked into the octogenarian’s blankets and raped her.

The woman woke up and screamed for help raising the attention of her grandson who bit Ndlovu’s back, causing him to flee the room.

The matter was reported to the police and investigations led to Ndlovu’s arrest. The court sentenced him to an effective 12-year jail term for rape.
