Speaking at the official opening of the festival at the Large City Hall, Moyo said the city would continue supporting arts initiatives.
“We’re affirming our support to this festival. A lot of tourists ask about our culture. We are happy that as city fathers we are taking part in this event for the people of Bulawayo. It is a known fact that all accomplished artistes are products of youth centres and community halls here in Bulawayo,” he said.
He added that the municipality was working towards reviving the city’s leisure facilities for the growth of the arts.
Intwasa Festival director Raisedon Baya thanked their traditional supporters for contributing positively to the success the event.
“As Intwasa we would like to thank Ingwebu for coming on board. We have been knocking on their offices for a long time asking for support,” he said.
Art and culture lovers were treated to a colourful ceremony, with glittering lights providing an enchanting environment that kept revellers at the venue until midnight.
