A 23-YEAR-OLD Silobela man has been arrested on allegations of killing his two-year-old nephew over witchcraft allegations.

Kwekwe magistrate Taurai Manwere on Tuesday ordered Teekay Mpofu to go for psychiatric examination when he appeared in court facing allegations of killing Thabelo Majero on March 19.
It is the State case that the accused started by assaulting his sister Sophia Mpofu, who was the boy’s mother, demanding to know where their mother kept her goblins.
The State alleges that Sophia was struck several times by Teekay, who was wielding an axe.
“Using the back of an axe, he attacked Sophia hitting her on the head, back and thighs until she escaped leaving Majero behind. The toddler tried to follow his mother, but was caught by the accused,” read part of the State outline.
During the attack, Mpofu is alleged to have kicked the boy in the chest before striking him twice with the back of the axe demanding the boy to tell him where to find the goblins.
The boy who was only saved from further assault by neighbours who rushed him to Kwekwe General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
