HIGHLANDERS attacking midfielder and Warriors fringe player Masimba Mambare is scheduled to return for another trial stint with South African Absa Premiership side AmaZulu on June 23.

Mambare, who last year was named the Castle Lager Premiership Soccer Star of the Year first runner-up, yesterday said communication from Usuthu was that he was supposed to return on June 23.

He only awaits his air tickets.

Southern Eye Sports spoke to Mambare after he finished his morning training session with the Warriors in Harare for the World Cup qualifier against Egypt.

“They (AmaZulu) said I should come back on June 23. “That is when I will be going back. I am just waiting for the air tickets,” Mambare said.

The former Motor Action player, who was last year Highlanders’ top goalscorer with 10 goals, flew to Durban on May 13 and trained with AmaZulu for a few days before returning home.

AmaZulu public relations and communications manager Philani Mabaso said Mambare has been invited for another stint with Usuthu as head coach Craig Roslee did not have enough time to assess the player at the time.

During that week, AmaZulu were busy preparing for their final 2012-2013 league match against Chippa United.

Mabaso said Roslee will have sufficient time to evaluate Mambare during off-season when the player would get a chance to play in some friendly matches.

Mabaso said Usuthu had been gathering information and keeping track on the midfielder, who could be joining fellow Zimbabweans goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini and defender Carlington Nyadombo.

Midfielder Ramson Zhuwawo has been off-loaded at AmaZulu.

Also recently signed by AmaZulu, which was home to Mkhokheli Dube before he returned home to join Chicken Inn, is Bret Amidu grabbed by the Super Diski outfit from Aces Academy in Harare.

Zimbabwean Wilfred Mugeyi is AmaZulu assistant coach.
