Glen Querl, a Tuskers right arm fast bowler, has been called for a suspicious action in ‘home’ of cricket. Are the world champions coming to Zimbabwe and how will the latest camp ready our girls for the Twenty20 (T20) World Cup qualifiers?

The jury has been out on the legitimacy of the bowling action of Tuskers star, Querl for the past couple of seasons.

Despite being called on a number of occasions by Zimbabwe’s most senior umpire, Russell Tiffin, it has not been easy for the powers that be at Zimbabwe Cricket to take further action because of the complicated International Cricket Council (ICC) rulings on suspect actions. Now that he has been called in England, where the test facilities are readily available, everyone is waiting with baited breath for the outcome of the tests.

However, if history is anything to go by, Querl will probably not be allowed to bowl his quicker delivery which is the most controversial one. That presents a challenge to the local game, which is not yet televised nor is a speed gun available as to who decides which one is the quicker ball.

Whichever way it goes, Tuskers will be praying that Querl is given the green light to help them defend their Logan Cup title. Maybe Stanley Staddon may consider signing him on as a batsman after his brilliant 188 not out against Southern Rocks last season.

In 15 matches last season, Querl picked up a massive 83 wickets.

The ICC Champion of Champions is truly underway. After the first round of matches, no clear favourites have emerged, but we can almost certainly tell you who is not going to win the tournament, Australia. The Aussies have lost their aura of invincibility they had, when they had the likes of Shane Warne and the Waugh twins Steve and Mark.

The batting has been letting them done badly of late and being bowled out for 65 by India in a warm up match would have damaged a lot of egos.

On the point of India, the entire nation is on the edge of their seats for a written confirmation that their favourite stars from the Indian Premier League will showcase their skills in Zimbabwe. The tour has been on and off on the internet, but Zimbabwe Cricket is preparing for the tour until they are told differently by their counterparts from the BCCI.

The Zimbabwe Ladies go into camp this week for the T-20 world cup qualifiers in Ireland next month. The girls are under no illusions about the enormity of the task after their disastrous showing against South Africa last month.

Tuskers will be represented by Atida Sibanda, Loreen Tshuma, Thandolwenkosi Mlilo and Tasmeen Granger .The girls will be well kitted in camp as they each received a full kit bag from Tuskers courtesy of the Marange Resources sponsorship. We wish them lots of luck and will follow their progress right here for you.

Zimbabwe’s then interim coach Stephen Mangongo has admitted to pushing a player in a fit of rage after he failed to deliver a massage in the just ended Bangladesh series. What are your thoughts and comments?
