Tendai Chikuni, who took over from Tenant Chilumba, managed to salvage a point from Motor Action in Harare on Wednesday in his first game in charge.

Boasting some of the best players in the country, FC Platinum have been struggling of late despite having started the season on a good note. They have not won in their last six games after losing to Hwange and Caps United, sharing the spoils with Highlanders, Monomotapa Harare City and Motor Action on Wednesday.

FC Platinum’s slump has seen the side drop to fifth position with 23 points and will face Rhinos, also itching for points as they perch on third spot from the bottom of the log table with 13 points. They only three wins and four draws in the league to date. Rhinos head coach Arthur Tutani said they were hoping for a good game as they were eager to collect points.

“We are playing a very good team on Saturday (tomorrow). We cannot say we are a bad team but we will go into the match as underdogs. We will play our hearts out because we are in desperate need of points.

“We played well in the Commanders’ Shield against Highlanders and in our league match against Tripple B, but our finishing has been poor. We need to polish our grey areas before we meet FC Platinum. I am not saying we are going to win, but we are going there to compete,” he said.

Meanwhile, bottom-placed Beitbridge side Tripple B host Buffaloes at Dulibadzimu Stadium tomorrow. Tripple B coach Peter Manoti will have a hard task of ensuring victory for the side that seem to have found the going tough in the league having already fired Friday Phiri.

The border town outfit have three wins, two draws and nine losses while Buffaloes are on position eight with six wins, one draw, while having lost seven times.

A defeat could spell more trouble for the log anchors as they face a Buffaloes beaming with confidence after upstaging champions Dynamos 3-2 at home on Wednesday.
