CROSS DETE — President Robert Mugabe is the chief cause of hunger and poverty in Zimbabwe, MDC leader Welshman Ncube has said.

Report by Staff Reporter.

Ncube said this at a rally held at Cross Dete in Matabeleland North Province on Saturday.

Addressing the rally, Ncube implored his supporters to vote out Zanu PF resoundingly in the forthcoming elections.

“This is our only and last chance to dislodge Zanu PF from power,” Ncube said to a round of applause.

He said even the aged should register to vote.

“If you don’t register to vote, your grandchildren will suffer continuously under Zanu PF,” he said.

In fact, when Ncube took to the podium and asked people if they were alright, the cry was that of hunger and starvation.

“Mugabe has brought this hunger and poverty upon your door step. Vote him out,” he said.

The MDC president said Zimbabwe was a disgrace since it was “the only country in the Southern African region without its own currency”.

“I have travelled a lot, but I have not seen a country without its own currency such as this one,” he said to a round of applause from his supports.

Ncube said MDC advocated for devolution after recognising the development disparity in the country.

“I was in Sadza on Thursday and what I saw there is that the road network is very advanced even in the rural areas. That is what we want to take place here. Vote for devolution,” he said.
